Common questions
Can't see your question? Call us on 01924 400216. Advice is always free.
Do I need to file a tax return?
You usually do if you're self-employed and earned more than £1,000, receive rental income, or have income that hasn't been taxed at source. There are exceptions, so call us and we'll check for free.
What do I need to send you?
Your income and expenses for the tax year (6 April to 5 April), any P60 or P45, letting statements, and bank interest or dividend details. We'll send you a simple checklist.
I've missed the deadline. Can you help?
Yes. We'll file as soon as possible to stop penalties building up, and can appeal a penalty if you had a reasonable excuse.
Does Making Tax Digital change this?
If your self-employment and property income is over the threshold, you also send quarterly updates. See our Making Tax Digital page.
